Ragdolls are wonderful cats full of character. They make very loyal, loving sociable companions. They love human company and affection as well as the company of other cats and dogs. They do not like to be left on their own for too long. If your ragdoll is going to be left on its for long hours of the day, you may wish to consider having more than one pet, so they have the company and companionship they need. Ragdolls make great companions for children due to them loving fusses and cuddles. They are easy for children to handle due to their typical ‘ragdoll flop’.

Ragdolls have high levels of intelligence and learn new things quite quickly. It is not hard to get kittens accustomed to using scratching posts or walking on a collar and lead if they are trained lovingly and consistently. If ragdolls get used to travel at a young age then you will have no problems with them traveling for the rest of their life.

They are very playful and quite active, especially in their younger years. As they will tend to get even more relaxed and less playful. But they will still have their ‘mad half hour’ dashing through their home. My older cats love to do this on a night time.

Ragdolls love the sunshine and they love to lay in it. Whether that be on the windowsill or outside in the garden with you. You should not leave your ragdoll outside unattended, or let them roam. They are such placid trusting cats, they would let anyone pick them up as long as they got attention. Some Hartlepaws babies parents, put a lead and collar on their ragdolls and attach it to their washing line, letting them have roam of the garden but safely secured.

Owning and being owned by a Ragdoll is a cat-lifelong decision, possibly 15-18 years. It is very important to remember this when you are choosing a kitten.

They truly are amazing cats and there is never a dull day with them around.
